MAD, now entering its 16th year, focuses on small projects that encourage long-term local responsibility and build camaraderie and community within our offices and virtual teams. Project types vary, but examples include horse therapy, food support, mentoring programs for underprivileged children, helping children with life-threatening illnesses, emergency housing, and supporting orphanages and school projects. The initiatives all have one thing in common: a focus on the next, next generation.
“The main goal of MAD is to support the ‘next, next generation’. Investing in that future is even more important in our current world climate. These are the children that will lead the world to wherever it goes next,” said Marcella Spear, Senior Executive Assistant, Sustainability & Americas Region for BCD, and Global Program Coordinator for MAD.
In 2023, our people and teams supported 39 projects across 14 countries. Here’s a look back at some of them.
Changing lives and creating lasting connections
“Volunteering in a MAD project made me discover the best of human beings in my co-workers and how much we can support our community together,” said Alexandre Dattilo, Regional Program Manager and MAD Coordinator. “In such challenging times, knowing that the good ones are many and are close to us warms my heart.”
The year ahead: Making a Difference 2024
The world is fast-changing and children are frequently the innocent victims of forces like inflation, climate change and conflict. BCD is eager to mitigate the effects of those forces by increasing MAD’s reach. BCD employees worldwide already have submitted applications for the 2024 Making a Difference program. The accepted projects will be announced soon. Follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter/X for more Making a Difference news.
