From relaxation zones at airport security to advance reservations for airport parking spaces, new ideas emerging from the Airport Innovation Accelerator at the American Association of Airport Executives could help reinvent airport experiences. The Innovation Accelerator collaborates with start-ups, creators and investors to turn ideas like these into real airport solutions.
In an audio interview, Director Chris Runde tells BCD Travel’s Michael Antrobus how the Innovation Accelerator is helping the airport community enhance and improve areas like technology; sustainability; and accessibility for persons with disabilities. One project already underway would provide real-time notifications for drone operators in and around airports. Another idea under consideration is for a mobile app that helps travelers find their way from car to departure gate.
