BCD Travel’s Miriam Moscovici, director of emerging technologies, has crafted a wish list for the upcoming Phocuswright Conference, Nov. 14-17 in Los Angeles. She’ll be a presenter at the conference, which brings together business travel leaders and influencers for discussions covering what’s new and what’s next in the industry.
Here, in Moscovici’s own words, are a few things she hopes to find at Phocuswright:
Something to hold. I wish for hardware every year! I would love to see innovations that don’t involve a browser. Hotels and airports have robots now and I’d like to hear one tell a corny joke while delivering a latte. I want to stumble around exhilarated wearing virtual reality goggles, or check out some smart luggage or wearable devices.
The edge in business travel. For my role at BCD Travel, a business travel management company, I’m always looking for innovations relevant to the business traveler or the corporation they travel for. Most of the time, the consumer travel experience dictates a business traveler’s expectations, so seeing the future of travel helps my company plan for and design our own changes to our business travel experience.
Something that moves me. I admit it! I’m a sucker for innovations that impact the world in a positive way: sustainable tourism that gives back more to the community than it takes. Youth-facing travel companies that make the world more accessible to young people and inspire them to protect the earth until they can see more of it. Cause-based start-ups that draw our attention to overlooked challenges or under-appreciated communities, and create partnerships between those that can help and those that need it.
