BCD Travel has won the GBTA Foundation’s 2016 Sustainability Outstanding Achievement Award in the Travel Intermediary category. The award is BCD’s second ICARUS (the first was in 2014).
The honor recognizes the travel management company’s efforts to help its clients balance people, the planet and profit. BCD’s submission highlighted its virtual collaboration, travel risk management and fraud mitigation successes.
“[BCD Travel’s] travel risk management concept delivers an impressive level of duty of care capabilities for travel buyers,” the GBTA Foundation said in written statement about 2016 ICARUS winners. “Traveler engagement helps clients fulfill their duty of care to protect employees, in line with the social aspect of sustainability.”
The GBTA Foundation—the education and research arm of the Global Business Travel Association—established Project ICARUS in 2013 to recognize travel buyers, suppliers and intermediaries who demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation and commitment to sustainable programs, products and services across North America.
